Important Information for Patients
Proposed Closure of the Owls Hill Surgery, Terling
We are proposing to close this branch surgery and provide all GP services from our main surgery at Fern House Surgery.
Why are we proposing this change?
The branch surgery building is very small and no longer suitable for modern GP care. It does not meet current Infection Prevention and Control standards or today’s accessibility requirements. Unfortunately, the building cannot be adapted to meet these standards safely.
Many patients from this area already attend appointments at the main surgery, where more services and facilities are available.
Please read the FAQs for further information.
Please read a copy of our patient letter.
What would this mean for you?
- You would stay registered with the same GP practice
- Your care and medical records would not change
- Appointments would take place at the Fern House Surgery,125-129 Newland Street, Witham CM8 1BH
- You would continue to receive the same NHS services as before
- There would be no change to housebound visits or medication deliveries
What are the benefits?
The main surgery provides:
- A safe, modern environment that meets NHS standards
- Better accessibility for patients with mobility needs, prams, and disabilities
- More appointment availability and flexibility
- Access to a wider range of services and clinical staff
- Improved facilities to support high-quality care
Booking appointments
Appointments will continue to be booked in the usual way (by phone, online, NHS APP or in person) but will be held at the main surgery.
Travel and support
We understand that travelling to the main surgery may be a concern for some patients. Please contact the practice if you need advice or support with transport options.
